Armed Robbery on Pemex Oil Platforms

Last week, armed pirates attacked Pemex oil platforms Ku-H and Zaap Delta near the Yucatan Peninsula. Workers were assaulted but are now safe. Union reports on the incident.


Armed Robbery on Pemex Oil Platforms

The company Pemex has not issued official information about the incidents that occurred on the night of Thursday and the early hours of Friday last week. During these assaults, workers on the Ku-H and Zaap Delta platforms were attacked by a group of armed individuals, but they are currently out of danger, according to union reports. Despite the attacks, no arrests have been made in connection with the events.

According to statements from the Union of Petroleum Workers of the Mexican Republic (STRPM), the workers were threatened and stripped of their belongings by armed pirates who boarded the satellite platforms. The affected workers are now in Ciudad del Carmen, where they are receiving medical attention and being evaluated in various specialties to ensure their well-being.

In a post on their Facebook account, section 47 of the union described how the assailants took cash, mobile phones, as well as materials and equipment necessary for the operation of the oil facilities. So far, no further details have been revealed about the identity or motivations of the attackers. The state-owned company Pemex has not issued statements regarding the situation.
